Sim Racing Studio software

Each DOF Reality motion platform comes with a free licence of Sim Racing Studio (aka SRS).

SRS motion is designed to work exclusively with DOF Reality platform. It’s tested and enhanced with features you can’t find anywhere else.

SRS software will make your experience seamless and enjoyable from configuration to fine tuning. You will spend near 1 minute to get up and running so you can enjoy your racing and flying motion simulation. Setting it up is as simple as selecting your DOF Reality model and waiting 5 seconds or so to connect. No need to know anything about computers, com ports, bauds and etc…

It supports over 70 games and they add games very frequently. You can even ask for new games and they will evaluate feasibility and get back to you very shortly if it can be done.

Every game is really easy to config. Most of them, there is nothing to do. Just open the game and it works…Some games might require minor tweaks which is mostly automated by SRS software. If can’t be automated, simple instructions are on the application itself. SRS support team will be delighted to help you if you need any assistance. They are super quick to respond to any inquiry.

Games are already pre-tuned by experienced racers and pilots, but if you want to enhance the tuning, you can easily do by changing some sliders on their application. Really easy. You can also learn more about tuning on their forum (https://www.simracingstudio.com/forum)

Besides the easiness to configure and fine tune, SRS also offers some unique and exclusive features such as:

  1. Boost – Enhances motion to racing curbs and road effects as well as flight turbulence)
  2. Auto game load. Once you install and configure the game once, your settings are saved. When you come back to the game, it auto starts SRS and loads. Just start the game from your shortcut or steam
  3. Per vehicle settings. Most of the motion effects you will feel are influenced by G-Forces from the vehicle. Some vehicles have lots of g forces and others much less. With SRS, you can save individual vehicle configuration for most games to enhance your experience. It auto loads when you get back to the vehicle.

The SIM Dashboard Server application should already be installed.
The application supports you with an automatic configuration feature which can enable telemetry of F1 2020 easily. More on that in the following tutorial. In case of Problems you can also do the configuration manually which is described at the end of this page.

Make sure to NOT activate the Broadcast mode in the in-game telemetry settings and run the SIM Dashboard Server PC Application simultaneously. Otherwise the Android app cannot work (and even crash), as it receives the data from the game AND the PC application twice. If you like to forward the telemetry data to another application have a look on this help page.

The SIM Dashboard App gives you additional gauges for your favorite PC, PS4 & XBOX SIM Racing games. Select from more than 200 customizable widgets and create your personal display. Tachometer, Steering wheel display or timing screen, everything is possible, it's up to you.

Overview

This screenshot shows the Interface of the SIM Dashboard Server application. Click on the tab Games to get the shown view. Make sure that the entry F1 2020 is selected in the list.

  1. The red X shows that F1 2020 is currently not configured
  2. This is the port on which the SIM Dashboard Server application listens for data from F1 2020.

If you changed the port, click on this button to save the settings3. This button sets the F1 2020 configuration, so that it sends data to the SIM Dashboard Server application on the selected port (F1 2020 must be closed when using this button).

Automatic configuration

This part of the tutorial is dedicated to the automatic configuration, which should always be tried first, because its much easier than the manual configuration.

Perform automatic configuration

Make sure that F1 2020 is currently not running but was started at least once!

After you set up the port (1) and clicked on Save config (2) to save the settings, click on the button Modify game config for telemetry (3).

The application updates the configuration of F1 2020 afterwards.

Automatic configuration finished

If everything worked as expected, a confirmation message (1) appears, the list shows the correct configuration (2) (with a green checkmark) and the button for the automatic configuration (3) on the right side is hidden.

You can now start F1 2020 and receive data in the SIM Dashboard Android App. Remember, that the SIM Dashboard Server application must be running while your are playing the game!

Manual configuration

This part of the tutorial is optional and should only be performed if the automatic configuration failed for some reason.

Open UDP Settings

On the Mainscreen press the Game Options button. Then click on Settings and finally on 'Telemetry Settings'.

Adjust the UDP Telemetry settings

Set 'Toggle UDP Telemetry' to: ON

the 'Broadcast Mode' to: OFF

and the 'IP Address' to: 127.0.0.1 and the Port to 20777.

The Send Rate should be set to 20Hz.
Set the Format to 2020

Please note: The game starts to send data not before the race is started.

Info: If multiple devices/applications in the network should receive the data you can forward the data using the UDP Telemetry Forwading Tab in the SIM Dashboard PC Application.

FAQ

If you are running F1 2020 with one of the UDP compatibility formats (2019, 2018, Legacy):In the My Team Mode no(!) data is provided by the Game if running in compatibility mode, becuase the old protocols only support 20 Drivers. The My Team Mode requires 22 Drivers, so the F1 2020 Format is required.

This is no limitation of the App.Official comment by Codemasters:My Team allows an extra team to race – this means that all the places in the packets where 20 cars were used, 22 are now needed. N.B. this will not be fixed in old formats (2019, 2018, legacy) – if you are in the “My Team” career mode with any format other than 2020 specified, no data will be output. All other game modes will function as before

The game does not provide your name.

F1 telemetry

You can set it in the App instead:

  • Open the App
  • Select your Design, where your Leaderboard does not show the Name
  • Enter the Edit Mode with the Icon
  • Select the Leaderboard Widget
  • Click on the green Customize icon
  • Scroll down to Replace Player Name with
  • Enter your desired Name

You can create one using the Widget Custom Smart SVG Icon

  • Open the Design where you want to add the Widget
  • Enter the Edit Mode with the Icon
  • Click on the red Icon and on Add widget/design
  • In the Design Editor add the Widget from Vehicle ->Lamps ->Custom Smart SVG Icon
  • In the Customization options of the Widget select the Data Value: ERS Mode = Overtake and set the following SVG Path: M0,0L1,0L1,1L0,1Z (a rectangular shape).
By the way: If you like to show a lamp instead, you can use the Widget 'Smart Lamp'

Sim Racing Telemetry - F1 2020 Price

  • In F1 2019 no Driver names were available in Multiplayer sessions, due to privacy concerns on the Playstation and Xbox Platform
  • In F1 2020 Basic Support for Multiplayer Names is available

What does Basic Support mean?

The game still does not provide names directly during a Race (Great would be: Driver 1 is called TZdriver1, Driver 2 is called LulGforce. Unfortunately that is not provided.).
Instead it provides the names of all Drivers while you are in the Multiplayer Lobby.
Ok, so where is the problem?

F1 2019 Game Telemetry

The problem is that there is only a list of driver names with their nationality and the selected team, but no information which driver is driving which car..
  • As long as the two drivers in one Team have a different nationality the app can guess who of those two is driving which car
  • If the two drivers in one Team have the same nationality the app cannot know who is who, so the driver name of the cars of that team will be shown as L. Hamilton and V. Bottas or whoever are the original Drivers of that Team's Cars
You can still tap on the driver name to change it manually.
